Our weekend trip to Corpus Christi was such a blast. We did a lot of relaxing at the beach, site seeing, and was also able to do an escape room on a aircraft carrier ship! Oh and last but definitely not least, we ate a ton of seafood! It was so delicious!
Growing up a state away I had actually never been to a Texas beach. So I feel the spot we picked for our first trip to this area was such a success! There is a lot to do in Corpus Christi, but we choose just a few things that intrigued us the most.
Here is an overview and itinerary of our 48 hours in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Where We Stayed

So we technically didn’t stay in Corpus Christi itself, we actually stayed about 10 minutes SE of Corpus on the Padre-Mustang Island. This island separates the mainland of Texas with the Gulf of Mexico.
We found a room at the Lively Beach Resort (which I would highly suggest). Not only was our room super chic and clean, it was also less then a 2 minute walk to the beach on a private boardwalk. We used this boardwalk multiple times a day to go take walks on the beach and just enjoy the amazing view!
What We Did

We arrived late afternoon to our room at Lively Beach. After getting settled, we decided to go take a walk to the beach. Since the Lively Beach Resort is literally right on the beach, this was a quick stroll to see such an amazing view. After stretching our legs on the beach we got hungry and went to Doc’s Seafood and Steaks for dinner.
The next morning we grabbed a quick breakfast at a Starbucks that over looked the water. This was such a cool view! After breakfast we went to the USS Lexington for a tour and to do an escape room. This was such a unique and exciting experience. If you get the chance to visit Corpus Christi, I highly recommend that you go see this carrier ship and do an escape room there if you can.
After our visit to the Lexington, we stopped for lunch at Pier 99. This restaurant is located right next to the Lexington and has super delicious crab legs! So great view and awesome food. Best of both worlds.
After lunch we visited the Texas State Aquarium. We spent a couple of hours roaming through the exhibits and even got to see the Dolphins perform a show! There were flamingos, lots of fish, and even some sharks. Lots to see and there is even a little Café at the Aquarium in case you need a snack (which I did!).
Following the Aquarium, we visited the waterfront Selena Memorial Statue located about 5 minutes from the Aquarium. We decided to stop here because the restaurant we planned to eat at for dinner is right next to this Statue. So it worked out nicely!
For dinner, we chose to go to Harrison’s Landing. This restaurant is located right on the edge of the Corpus Christi Bay on a floating dock! I ordered the Mahi Mahi here and loved it!
For our second full day in Corpus Christi, we decided to spend the day relaxing at the beach! So after leisurely going to eat breakfast at Island Joes Coffee and Gallery we headed to a Wal-Mart to pick up some supplies and snacks for the beach. We grabbed an umbrella (I would highly suggest to use for shade from that Texas sun!), snacks, and beer for our beach day. We headed back to the Lively Beach Resort and used the private boardwalk to access a great spot on the beach for the day.
After enjoying the water, sun, and our beers we went back to our room for a shower and got ready to head to dinner. For our last night in Texas we chose to eat at Landry’s Seafood House. This was by far my favorite place we ate at. I had one of the best shrimp cocktails I have ever had and ordered lobster for my main course! This is definitely a place I would highly recommend!
The next morning we grabbed a quick breakfast and headed home!
