With the new year in full swing, I have made it a goal for this year to exercise consistently and eat a healthier more balanced diet. One way I am eating better is by drinking a healthier smoothie in the morning to replace eating breakfast. Lately, I have been making a Chocolate Peanut Butter smoothie whose main ingredients are protein powder, peanut butter, and a banana.

I actually first saw this recipe on an episode of the Queer Eye, but have made some tweaks to make it more style. I altered some of the amounts as well as added some cocoa powder for that chocolate flavor and I like to include some FiberOne cereal to sneak in some fiber. Also when I have them on hand, I will toss in some Blueberries for the antioxidants they provide and to just mix up the flavor.

This smoothie is extremely easy to make as you don’t have to precisely measure the ingredients. I actually just start tossing things into my blender and it always comes out super tasty.  Another convenient aspect is that most of the ingredients can be stored in your cabinets for a while so you don’t have to purchase a ton of ingredients every week. The only item to keep an eye on is the bananas.

One last item to note on the ingredients is that I made sure all of my ingredients do not contain any sugar or corn syrup. If they they are sweetened it is only by natural sugars or natural sweetners such as Stevia. Just something to keep in mind when shopping for these items.

Enough talk, let’s get to making the smoothie!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Smoothie

  • Half a Banana
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 Tbs Nut butter (I like to use Peanut butter)
  • 1 Tbs Protien Powder (heaping)
  • 1/2 Tbs cocoa powder (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Fiber One (optional)

Directions

Combine all ingredients in blender and mix until smooth. Enjoy!

I hope you enjoy this smoothie as much as I do! I love how easy to make it is and how delicious it tastes! Cheers!
